Concerning the Literary Blog Hop

We have decided to postpone the Literary Blog Hop until next week. We are also considering hosting the Literary Blog Hop every other week. We've had lots of great feedback and have acquired a nice long list of suggested questions, thanks everyone! Stay tuned next week when the Literary Blog Hop post will be up at the usual time (Wednesday night 12:00AM EST.)

Hope everyone has been having a great week and enjoying the Holiday season! As for me, I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to read during my winter break. Any suggestions?

During Christmas, there is no better author to read all around than Dickens... whether it's Christmas themed or otherwise. Just my opinion... though I'm reading Jules Verne. :)

cool, well I hope you enjoy Verne! Dickens is of course a Christmas classic.
I'm loving the hop, but I'll be very busy for the next few days, so it's nice to know I won't be missing out on great conversation. :)

I'm trying to figure out what to read the rest of the year too. Christmas break is a time when I get in the mood for quicker, entertaining books. Hmm, maybe Nick Hornby?

I've heard a lot of good things about his newest book, maybe I'll have to check that out.
Every other week sounds like a good idea! I was going to try to read some Russian novels during December. I'm starting with Chekhov's Complete Short Novels, then reading Master and Margarita and Lolita. Have a great holiday!

I've seriously ALWAYS been extremely interested in reading the Master and Margarita and I have no idea why I haven't yet. I'm anxious to hear what you think about it!
Read some Dennis Lehane. It's not thick like the Russians and it's pretty engrossing.

awesome. I feel like you and I have similar taste. I will definitely look into Dennis Lehane.
Every other week sounds great. I did the first one but have yet to do another one - I think it would be more manageable for me personally if it was on a fortnightly basis.

Cool, it looks like that's what we are going to end up doing. Thanks for your input
Aww! Sad about this! But also, fortnightly doesn't seem a bad thing - gives us time to work on our tricky answers too!

I'm reading Chocolate at the moment. very cosy!

It must be quite comforting. I've never read this one but I envy you at this minute :)
Cool, thanks for your input!
At first, I was disappointed, but then I find that this hop is not a light thing. People take time to think about their answers and might also spend considerable time checking other blogs, commenting, answering comments, checking if comments got an answer, etc... so it's probably not a bad thing to have it every other week.

Yeah. It's not only a lot of work for me, since I feel the need to try to read and comment on everyone's post, but a lot of others try to as well. I'm thinking every other week will be a lot more manageable.
Having (I think) entered everyone of your mythic quests to search for the beating heart of literature is a good idea, allowing greater time to visit fellow quest followers. Also can appreciate the work involved.
Every other week sounds good to me. I'll be reading Major Pettigrew's Last Stand over the holidays... my new book club selection, but it seems perfect for this time of year, too.
Yes, a swell idea. Though I had a spare minute this weekend and had planned to participate. I've missed the last few, so all's well. Thanks for hosting!

(I'm reading Dickens and Austen over Christmas.)

cool, hope you'll join in next week Jillian!
Every other week does sound like a wonderful idea! I haven't been able to participate much becuase I've been reading so much and don't like posting more than once per day, but in th enew year, my reading will be cut far back so I hope I can participate again. Every other week will be good!
Love the tree, nicked it as my phone's wallpaper.
I would suggest One Last Look by Susanna Moore :) It's such a languid story, perfect for a winter read I feel.... Review over at the blog if you are interested :)
