Top Ten Tuesday: Ingrid's Recs for Occasional Readers

Photo via Mint Tea and a Good Book
Top Ten Tuesday! My list this week is top ten books for occasional readers. I have a lot of extroverted friends who have many other fun, interesting things in their lives besides books. These friends only read occasionally, maybe a book every month or every few months.

Friends, this list is for you. These are books I can almost guarantee will grab your attention and that you will enjoy all the way to the end. These are the kind of books you won't want to put down.

It's going to be a quick one this week. Here we go.  (Links to my reviews.)

Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
The Girl's Guide to Homelessness by Briana Karp
Freedom by Jonathon Franzen
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
Almost French by Sarah Turnbull
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette by Sena Jeter Naslund

What books would you recommend to an occasional reader?

Great topic!! I would definitely add My Sister's Keeper, Perfume: Story of a Murderer, The Other Boleyn Girl, and Water for Elephants. They're all so good and really draw you in - even as a non-reader!

Nice! I haven't read any of those, but I'm kind of intrigued by Perfume
I have Memoirs of a Geisha sitting on my shelf. I might have to get to it sooner rather than later. Great list. =]

I loved Norwegian Wood, but haven't read the others on the list!:)
I love Memoirs of a Geisha, Cold Mountain, and Freedom. I'm going to have to check out the other ones you listed. Just from those three books you listed I'm going to say you have got great taste. Not many people liked those three books...but I did.

I vote for Abundance--Marie Antoinette. LOVED IT! Oh, yeah. Those others, too. i'm too old, I can't remember them all. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Yes.

I know this looks like I'm responding to my own comment. But someone (ahem, Ingrid) must've logged on to my computer at some point in the past. Oops. Sorry for the confusion, all. This could be dangerous, but since I'm her Mom, there will be no sabotage.
I'm going to read Freedom this year. I'm going to read Freedom this year. Maybe if I say it enough times it will make it true.
Word! I second Middlesex (duh), aTGiB, and MoaG.

Hahahaha, MoaG!
