Moby Dick: A Read-Along, January 2012

This January, 2012, we (Ingrid and I, Connie) decided to get our most difficult classics reading challenge goal out of the way and tackle Herman Melville's infamous Moby Dick right at the beginning of the year, and we are hoping you will join us!

We are going to kick the reading off on Thursday, January 5th with an introduction to the book complete with relevant biographical facts and background information. Then, we will reconvene every Thursday right here at tBB for four weeks to recap what we've read, discuss characterization, themes, etc., and perhaps commiserate with one another a little as well. Here is our reading schedule:

Jan 12: Chapters 1-28
Jan 19: Chapters 29-55
Jan 26: Chapters 56-93
Feb 2: Chapter 94-epilogue

Have you been wanting to tackle this book, too? Or have you read it and want to revisit it, offering the rest of us insight? Read along with us, stop by the blog, join in the discussion, and, if you so choose, post your thoughts on the reading on your own blog, and leave the link in the comments. If you do not have a blog, you are still welcome to join! Just leave your thoughts and updates on your progress in the comments.

Now, as it so happens, I recently came into another copy of Moby Dick, so what better way to get us motivated than to host a giveaway? Fill out the form below to enter yourself for a chance to win your own copy of Moby Dick. Sorry, US entries only.

Happy reading! Here's to completing at least one New Year's Resolution!
